In the past 7 years ( since 2017 ), there’s been quite a wonderful surge in the number of digital entrepreneurs in Nigeria, most venturing into affiliate marketing, ecommerce and some into crypto and forex.
Although with this increase, few people have been able to penetrate the digital space and make good money. Many are still testing the waters and many are still trying to build in their selected industries.
Google trends shows that the search for “how to make money online” content in Nigeria hasn’t seen its lowest since 2017, although there are hundreds of blogs educating people on this topic, I believe many people read the content and are still craving for more details.
These bloggers just write for content’s sake without caring about the demands of their readers, and I can say this because I’ve been there too. In 2018, I was in the dark about anything that revolved around making money online. I would browse night to day without tangible results and the ones that sounded doable only returned little or nothing in revenue compared to the work it demanded.
In this article, I’ll be taking you through five ( 5 ) online ventures you can get into and make good money, but first let me give you a headstart; if you are looking for a get-rich-quick scheme then this content is not for you.
Everything I have written here requires smart work, dedication and time. It comes with risk but I can assure you that the odds are in your favor. Every business needs a capital to start them with, so do these ones. If you are not ready to invest in what would give you money, then you are lying to yourself and you’ll only get to meet scams or people who would reap you.

Fast forward to 2020, two years after my search for a worthy channel of cash flow online, I made cool money from web development! Yes, you read that right. You see, when it comes to money making, it’s either you are doing it with a skill or with a business.
In my case, I first started with a skill ( programming ), I learnt basic languages for web development, and marketed my skill set on my Facebook wall and in less than 3 weeks, I started getting clients and in a few months I landed my first 1 million in a week.
I made it just from the online space, and guess what? The money didn’t stop there. It kept coming in, I kept getting new clients and referrals. I was able to upgrade my laptop, my phone, and my work table. I was able to hold down seven figures in my account and that helped me build my self esteem.
One of the benefits of earning your own money is the flexibility, I could easily work from anywhere, with my phone or with my laptop and deliver good jobs and still get paid, I also get to code at my own time. I became a boss of my own, nobody gave me time to open my laptop or when to close it. It was blissful.
Another benefit is the income potential, did I forget to add that the 1 million naira gig wasn’t just a single gig? It was two! Each paying me 500,000 naira! I got a client that needed a clean company business website and I delivered and the next day he referred me to his colleague and that was it!
When you start making your own money online you become independent and bold enough to manage your monetary affairs without looking down on yourself or being looked down by other people.

Do you like the idea of working from home and getting paid handsomely? Freelancing is that online engagement that would give you all that. Freelancing is a type of employment that allows you to work for yourself instead of working for a company or organization.

She’s named the biggest blogger in Nigeria. Regardless, there’s been tons of new blogs since then and much more even coming. Yet that doesn’t cease the Cashflow.
Honestly speaking, blogging isn’t a thing for weak-minded individuals. You need attention to what’s uploaded, you need to study the algorithm, you need to understand SEO and most importantly you need commitment to your blog to build it up to that level that you don’t need to put in much efforts any longer.
Blogging is making young individuals into multi-millionaires and it’s still possible today. It can take you 3-5 months to finally start earning from your blog and surprisingly you might just be getting a little over a hundred dollars.
But of course growth is in stages, you need to be alive to continue growing. E-commerce is golden and a millionaire making venture, brand like Jumia and Konga are the leasing ecommerce platforms in Nigeria with thousands of daily visitors and millions of naira purchases, only online!
You can decide to sell shoes, clothes or groceries online, and you set up a quality ecommerce website that lists all you have for sale and people buy from you.
It is easy to set up a good ecommerce website with WordPress, woocommerce plugin and a quality theme. In my story, I shared how I leveraged my Facebook wall to land clients in less than 3 weeks. You too can. It’s important to have a strong online presence, it not only unwraps the potential for new clients, it also serves as an unfiltered portfolio that adds to your chances of getting hired.
Focus on providing value and excellent customer service.
One mistake many people make is going neck-deep for money, they don’t care about clients. Remember when I talked about bloggers not giving a cent about how their visitors feel? Don’t be like that.
Your focus is to make your clients and visitors satisfied, as a blogger, provide quality content, as a graphics designer, provide irresistible designs and the traffic wouldn’t be numbered.
Be patient and persistent – building an online income takes time.
When it comes to building online, you can strike the gold in one dig, or in your 10th dig. It can take you months or even years to build up successfully but nevertheless, don’t give up on the journey you’ve started. Be patient and keep building, you know it’s going to work so keep aiming at it.
